Sand dunes of time

“So tell me what is time?”, he asked. Some say it’s the clock, some say it’s 4:07pm, some say it’s the 4th dimension. I said ” It’s a sand dune.” Well I did say it without any thinking and that’s why I had to justify.

Right at the moment, we start to breathe, it starts to flow just like sand. Just like wind shapes and makes it move, our breathe is what makes time a sand dune. A crying baby, the age of being stupid, the age of being dependent and obviously cute. Photos are clicked, people play with you while you just smile and be carefree. Then comes the breath. A swoosh of air and time changes its shape and place.

The sand dune has settled in the age of change and evolution. The well oiled hair, the disciplined and crease-free ironed school uniforms. The age of learning. From the early morning prayers to the small recess yet long talks to the happiness felt upon hearing the closing bell. Time shifts, the sand flows and the dune goes on.
A big breath. A big sigh that takes all the time to a place where it’s never been before. The love dune. Every beating beat, every second, every piece of love and affection and obviously every saved mobile balance you have, you try to shower on your beloved. The talks start to become more relationship-oriented, you start to feel more “this is it” kind of feeling. And that’s how a simple sigh of love has changed your sand dune.

The work shifts, late night projects, the busy commutation and the goal achieving obsession. A man with responsibilities and a man with success and failures. Now comes the winter wind. The cold breath and the cold body. The dunes are settling for one last time . Time doesn’t seem ever changing and the the sand seems to settle. In this vast desert of life, the dune becomes the common sand and falls into oblivion.

And despite our best measures to slow down time and the erosion, it continues to move. The only way to put up with this race is to enjoy each moment of change. Be with your friends, be with your loved ones, be with yourself. The only oasis in this desert of sand dunes is love. It’s the only thing which will transcend through the sieves created by the complex patterns of time. Filter out your joy from the complexities of this ever changing time. Travel with time and not against it. The sand will flow. The dunes will roll. And time, ” Well what is time?”
